The Market Assistant Manager leads the team in charming and captivating Vino Volo customers through sophisticated customer service and wine expertise in the Market. They ensure guest satisfaction through proper training of employees and adhering to company SOPs. They ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the store and provide daily supervision of all members of the team with guidance from the General Manager. The Market Assistant Manager is also responsible for communicating effectively and liaising with all functional areas of the Market and levels of management within those areas. You will create and deliver first-class experiences for the traveling public by impressing customers with the Vino Volo experience.

The primary goals of the Market Assistant Manager are to lead and coach their team to 1) impress customers with the quality of the Vino Volo experience; 2) sell coffee, food, and merchandise to these same customers; and 3) maximize sales while controlling costs. From time to time the Market Assistant Manager may be called upon to assist at another store.

  • Maintain standards for food, beverage, service, and atmosphere while building positive customer relations.
  • Engage customers in an approachable but sophisticated manner and help them to discover and fall in love with Vino Volo’s products and wines
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure all customers are as happy as possible at all times, and all possible up-sale opportunities are captured.
  • Deliver and coach employees to charm and captivate customers with a service level they have never before experienced at an airport, and rarely ever encounter at stores outside the airport.
  • Serve as a role model and provide accessibility to staff while developing leadership and motivational skills.
  • Help train new team members in Vino Volo’s approach to service and sales
  • Respond to customer complaints and feedback and work to proactively resolve them within company procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure timely completion and presentation of all orders in accordance with Vino Volo standards.
  • Exhibit efficiency in completing job requirements by working with a sense of urgency and consolidating tasks.
  • Supporting programs to enhance staff morale and training, which includes writing of schedules.
  • Effectively lead the Market
  • Acts with integrity and honesty while promoting the company culture.


  • Assist with food, beverage, labor-management costs, receiving, storage, and inventory management including but not limited to product selection and invoicing
  • Assist the General Manager with recruiting, onboarding, and training new employees
  • Supervises and coaches team members through the effective use of corrective action tools as provided by the company.
  • Lead each shift by delegating duties, assigning tasks, and following up with all team members.
  • Demonstrate management and leadership ability through building effective relationships with customers, supervisors, team members, and purveyors.
  • Must be proficient in each area of the Market to assist when necessary.
  • Help the General manager to keep the store in good repair, including coordinating with vendors to handle maintenance and repair if necessary.
  • Follow inventory control procedures to reduce product loss.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.
  • Prepare food when necessary.
  • Check food quality and temperatures throughout the day to maintain Health and Safety regulations.
  • Ensure the security and safety of guests and team members through pro-actively following proper sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Follow proper procedures and guidelines for opening and closing the Market
  • Work with manager to re-organize shift duties when necessary.
  • Ensures and supervises store setup, opening and closing procedures
  • Performs daily accounting and cash control
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to getting the job done. Hours will vary on a weekly basis based on workload and deadlines. Working during weekends, holidays, and peak business periods may be required according to the manager’s schedule.
  • Enthusiastically supports decisions once made by Vino Volo and management.
  • Open-minded to feedback.


  • High School Diploma required; two years of college education is preferred
  • Two to four years of total work experience is required in one or more of the following positions: manager or assistant manager at a coffee bar, retail store, or market


  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Skilled at and enjoys delivering excellent customer service
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experienced with and proficient at using retail point-of-sale systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products
  • Must be able to pass required TSA screening and background check
  • Ability to work day, evening, or a combination of shifts on weekends and/or public holidays
  • Valid Serve Safe food handling certification
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Able to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
