Production Supervisor – $3,000+ in Bonuses!

This is a Contract position in Verdi, NV posted November 28, 2021.

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for coordinating and directing Team Members to support high-volume manufacturing operations, including determining effective processes to get things done, and organizing people and activities efficiently. S/he plans and assigns work, administers policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. S/he is also responsible for achieving immediate and short-term objectives as described by the Plant Manager. Applicants must be available to work the day and night shift up to five days per week.

Primary Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assigning work, vacation-planning, breaks, and overtime assignments
  • Coordinating production startups, shutdowns and changeovers
  • Operating within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Conducting shift meetings
  • Ensuring quality control and making adjustments as necessary
  • Ensuring a clean and safe work area
  • Completing all shift reports
  • Providing leadership and direction to Team Members via a strong floor presence (investing 90% of time on the floor engaged with Production Associates)
  • Coaching and counseling Team Members, including providing corrective action
  • Making recommendations regarding hiring and terminating Team Members
  • Managing shift time and attendance system
  • Meeting production goals, targets and KPIs
  • Identifying personnel shortages from day to day and adjusting work assignments accordingly
  • Ensuring effective employee relations and working with site leadership to resolve issues
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating departmental activities to fulfill orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver quality manufactured products in a timely fashion
  • Managing employee development, training and performance reviews
  • Performing accident and near-miss investigations including documentation requirements
  • Coordinating activities with maintenance to complete required PMs and repairs
  • Training Team Members on all departmental procedures, quality procedures and all related work instructions, and company policies

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent plus four years of experience as a production supervisor in a manufacturing environment (Bachelors degree preferred)
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures and high-volume production machinery and systems
  • Proven experience related to lean principles and practices, and continuous improvement
  • Strong dedication to team member morale, internal customer service, safety, quality and delivery
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, some Spanish or Tagalog preferred
  • Able to use simple math and use basic handheld measuring tools
  • Self-motivated while being able to give clear direction and work in groups
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Must be safety-conscious at all times, while maintaining quality initiatives
  • Must be knowledgeable of manufacturing methods, production schedules, and plant operations

Physical Demands:

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to push, pull and/or lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for 10 hour shifts
