Senior/Principal Scientist, Discovery FirstLight Bio , with offices in Manhattan and South San Francisco, was founded in 2021 to create the next generation of genomic medicines.

Our approach is based on cutting-edge breakthroughs in genome editing technology made at Stanford University which enable more precise, effective, and safe avenues to edit the genome.

Position Summary We are seeking a talented, dedicated, passionate, and motivated person with experience in genome editing to join our team in South San Francisco as Senior/Principal Scientist, Discovery.

The successful candidate will join a team developing screening CRISPR editing strategies for cell and gene therapy applications.

Key Responsibilities
· Drive the development and execute high-throughput genome editing screens in mammalian cells.

· Design novel screening studies to maximize the performance of the technology across diverse editing contexts.

· Develop and execute proof-of-concept assays for in vitro phenotypic readouts including qPCR, flow cytometry, NGS, and/or ELISA.

· Work with the SSF team to define the scientific operations and work culture based on collaboration, empathy, and integrity of the SSF lab.

· Analyze and interpret data and present to internal and external audience.

· Contribute to the scientific efforts and develop innovative solutions by maintaining a broad understanding of the field.

· Hire junior scientists and mentor them scientifically and in their career growth.

· PhD degree and at least 3 years relevant experience or MS degree with at least 7 years relevant experience.

· Experience with mammalian cell culture.

· Experience with gene editing and genetic screens.

· Technical expertise in transfection, flow cytometry, cell sorting, and next generation sequencing.

· Excellent troubleshooting and written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have
· Experience with lentiviral transduction and pooled library screening.

· Industry experience managing a high-throughput screening workflow.
