Job description

Production Planner

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities: Includes the following: (Other duties may be assigned)
Provides input into contract review, especially as it pertains to capabilities of the shop
Generates and schedules work orders and travelers for production
Ensures that production receives all required materials in time to meet the production schedule (this includes materials, tooling, and scheduling needed outside processes)
Ensures that all components are ready for assembly on schedule
Ensures that all vendor related products and processes will be completed on time
Informs production and management of any changes that will affect product quality or customer specifications
Operate and maintain MRP system.

Our facility uses E2 ShopTech Systems and experience with the scheduling module is appreciated

Evaluating and selecting suppliers and subcontractors
Consult list of approved suppliers/vendors when making purchasing decision
Generating and reviewing purchasing documents to ensure that all requirements are met
Communicating with suppliers regarding order status and delivery dates
Input purchasing information into the inventory control system/MRP
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Overall leadership and organizational skills
Experience in production scheduling, bills of material, and shop travelers
Experience with MRP, JIT, Kan-Ban, and other methodologies of shop control
Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.

Mathematical Skills Basic math skills such as the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach and lift.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
