Operational Safety Coordinator


This is a Full-time position in Las Vegas, NV posted October 3, 2022.

OverviewSafety Coordinators are responsible for planning, implementing, and facilitating and overseeing company’s employee safety at work. Their main duty is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) guidelines to reduce work-related injuriesResponsibilitiesResponsible for providing support and guidance to the organization tasked with driving safety initiatives and instilling a safety culture.* Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.* Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to; assessing risks before starting tasks, only performing authorized activities, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).* In line with the Company Group Health & Safety (H&S) Strategy and taking into account The Company’s best interests and priorities in insuring a safe work environment.* Provide H&S expertise and support to site management and supervisors for the management of H&S* Support and challenge the line in defining and prioritizing the actions to implement long term country and site H&S strategy.* Coach and assist supervisors and managers on incident investigations.* Works with HR and site management to provide support on best working conditions and safe working environment* Monitor and audit internal safety programs for compliance and validation.* Development and implement training to the workforce to improve and maintain safe working conditions.* Assist site leadership in their communications with MSHA and OSHA* Advise, assist and support local operations regarding compliance with federal, state and local regulatory compliance. Assists the sites during MSHA inspections and investigations, providing local management with the expertise to interpret regulatory compliance issues and the capacity to challenge inspector’s findings.* Facilitates and/or coordinates required safety training programs to include Fatality Prevention Elements health and safety standards, Incident Reporting, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSA) regulations, DOT Hours of Service and Plant Evacuation Procedures.* Maintains records of employee Safety training* Maintains incident log tracking incidents, near misses, and other related information in a database. Prepares reports and graphs detailing maintained data.* Assists plant supervision in ensuring follow-up on safety items* Ensures that minutes of safety meetings are taken, prepared and distributed* Administers the DOT program to include scheduling of DOT recertification exams, and third-party drug and alcohol testing* Administers the Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program* Ensures alignment of Company personnel protective equipment across the region and AIUS.* Responsible for worker’s compensation claim management* Acts as Northeast liaison with third-party vendor for employee injury reporting and support* Other duties as assigned.RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBSActs as a Business Partner to Operations, providing professional guidance on worker’s compensation, and company-wide safety initiatives.* Interfaces regularly with third-party Worker’s Compensation vendors when neededQualificationsEducation: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.Additional Education Preferred: Associates/College DegreeField of Study Preferred: Occupational H&S, HSE or similar fieldRequired Work Experience: 1-2 years MSHA and OSHA experience preferredDOT compliance experienceRequired Training/Certifications: Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA) and/orMine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) preferredRequired Computer and Software Skills: Proficient in MS Office and Google software programsTravel Requirements: Local travel to job locations required.Estimated Wage Range$18.00 to $28.00Pay TypeHourly
