Mine Planning Engineer Internship

The Opportunity

Our interns will have an opportunity to complete challenging and rewarding projects in their field of study, working side by side with our professionals in the field. Internships are full-time paid positions at 40 hours/week. Summer intern positions will begin in May 2023 – August 2023. Dates will be flexible depending on student availability and schedule.

This opportunity will allow you to work closely with experienced mining engineers and gain valuable hands-on experience in areas including underground survey, mine planning, ground support, ventilation, water handling and treatment, equipment evaluation, and MSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Underground as-built surveys and design layouts
• Daily tracking and reporting of underground activities and materials moved
• Short-term design and evaluation of underground development and production
• Cooperation with other engineers, geologists, and operations personnel on project planning and implementation
• Conducting ventilation surveys and ground support inspections (including pull-testing bolts) as-needed
• Evaluate equipment and manpower efficiency

The above duties and responsibilities represent the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

Education and Experience

• Enrolled in college or a continuing education program as a full-time student for the fall of 2023 (12 credits)
• Be available to work at the Jerritt Canyon Mine site for 9-12 weeks during the summer.

• Progress towards a degree in Mining Engineering or other related field

• Willing and able to work in a dynamic and changing environment, for long hours, underground, and around heavy equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Excellent safety attitude

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
