A Day in the Life The instructional technologisttrainer will collaborate with IT staff to provide technical writing, support and training for systems and equipment supplied by the department. The employee will develop classes, documentation, learning aids, knowledge content, and professional development programs for the college community promoting the use of technology. They will also research and support emerging technologies for application at the college. The Basics Total Years of Technical Experience 2+ Experience with training and staff development 2+ Graphic and multimedia design 2+ Write technical training materials and manuals Extensive knowledge in MS Office productivity tools and Canvas LMS Ability to summarize (in verbal and written form) technical information to a non-technical audience Techie Aptitude Create and manage multimedia content for documentation, job aids, videos, graphics, presentations, and other learning content for online, print, in-person training, and other deliverablesplatforms Provide information, support, and assist users with IT equipment and software Provide training and workshops for individuals or small groups on a number of topics dealing with technology Provide support for students with Canvas LMS Learn new applications, technologies and skills through hands-on experimentation and direct application Visits with IT department colleagues to learn about common community issues and identify opportunities for trainingsupport initiatives Assist IT department with implementation of new technologies and equipment Manage project timelines and coordinate with department staff to meet project deliverables Plan appropriate training schedules, works with others to schedule the training rooms, ensures the training rooms are adequate, judges the effectiveness of current training content and methods, and identifies new training methods using the latest technology Design content using Adobe Suite software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Captivate, etchellip) Final Cut Pro, Camtasia, Canvas, etchellip Participate in technology related committees and serve as a consultant to the college technology interest groups, grant projects and initiatives Perform other duties as required or assigned May be required to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays Ability to transverse to various locations throughout the College and travel between campuses is required Occasionally pushing, pulling objects weighing 30lbs. or less. Human Aptitude VerbalWritten Communication Excellent Customer Service Excellent Multitask and adjust priorities independently Advanced Understand technical language Advanced Experience documenting standard operating procedures, processes, and other administrative functions. Self-motivated, task oriented, focused on resolving issues, and ability to function with minimal supervision.
