Associate Legal Counsel

Company Description Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Ormat is a leading geothermal company and the only vertically integrated company solely engaged in geothermal and recovered energy generation (REG), with the objective of becoming a leading global provider of renewable energy. POSITION SUMMARYThis position will work closely with the US Legal Counsel and the rest of the Legal team to provide legal advice and support on various commercial and corporate matters. The position has a heavy emphasis on negotiating various types of contracts, providing day-to-day guidance on a wide range of business issues, and interfacing with management and various business groups within the Company with respect to day-to-day legal issues and risks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Work closely with the US Legal Counsel on legal, commercial, regulatory, operational, and legal compliance issues.Assist in the negotiation and drafting of various contracts, including but not limited to complex transactions, EPC agreements, power purchase agreements, construction agreements, non-disclosure agreements, terms and conditions, corporate documents, and real estate documents. Interface with management and various business groups to provide legal advice on a wide range of issues, including contract negotiations and disputes, land lease and purchase issues, project financing issues, and general commercial business support. Develop and implement legal strategies, procedures and policies to streamline internal processes and minimize litigation, third party disputes, and other potential legal and business issues. Research and provide guidance on relevant legal, regulatory, and compliance issues.Manage outside counsel on various projects and matters.

Provide support for special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and membership in at least one U.S. state bar.Minimum 5 years of transactional legal experience. In-house and international experience preferred, but not required. Working knowledge related to project development, permitting, land purchase and lease issues, and energy industry rules and regulations at the state, regional and Federal levels preferred but not required.Ability to contribute to discussions of general business issues and to work well with a wide range of clients, from senior executives to operating personnel, and to work independently as well as to lead a project. Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to effectively perform the job duties. Additional languages preferred, but not required. Strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.Must have high level of integrity, discretion, judgment, and the ability to multi-task.Eagerness for learning new areas of law and expanding legal and business skill set.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to work in an office environment. The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert.The ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
