Scientist, Molecular Biology Research

This is a Contract position in Las Vegas, NV posted October 30, 2022.

Twist is looking for a Scientist, Molecular Biology to join our Synthetic Biology R&D Team.

You will work alongside other molecular and computational biologists to further deliver on our mission to extend and improve our synthetic biology portfolio.

You will design experiments, perform analyses, build tools, and collaborate with a team of scientists in all aspects of synthetic biology development for a variety of applications.

As a member of the research team, this candidate will focus on development of custom nucleic acid-based applications in synthetic biology.

Our ideal candidate will have strong domain knowledge in synthetic biology, excellent molecular biology skills, and deep experience with next-generation sequencing and analysis.

Strong communication skills, previous wet lab experience, and the ability to work independently are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities Design and perform molecular biology experiments, with an emphasis on nucleic acid biology Independently analyze NGS data to troubleshoot operations process failures and devise next steps Independently evaluate and assess new methods, technologies and processes that could improve production processes Work with and guide research associates to develop new product innovation by helping design and execute experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results Requirements: Ph.D.

with 1-2 years experience or M.S.

5-7 years experience is preferred; industry experience is highly desired.

Strong background in molecular biology techniques including synthetic biology applications, gene synthesis, molecular cloning, enzymatic assays, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparation.

Programming skills are highly desired.

Python / R preferred Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

High attention to detail.

Ability to identify problems and use a combination of knowledge, intuition, and experience to solve problems in a timely manner.
