Justice Court Clerk

Harris County

This is a Contract position in Las Vegas, NV posted August 29, 2022.

Position Description Under general supervision, the Justice Court Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties and provides administrative support to the Harris County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Place 1.

Duties and Responsibilities: Enters information into Harris County’s Odyssey and interfaces (JWEB) computer systems.

Answers multi-line phone and directs calls where appropriate.

Performs extensive data entry and e-filing.

Receives and properly applies county funds for traffic and criminal cases and is responsible for balancing all financial transactions at the end of the day.

Updates and scans case records and files cases.

Assists the Judge in court as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

equivalent; and A minimum of one (1) year of full-time Justice of the Peace experience, including knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, the court system, and customer service skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic knowledge of computers and related software comprised of Microsoft Windows and Word.

Basic knowledge of Odyssey court management system.

Detail-oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Self-motivated with excellent organizational and customer service skills.

Must be punctual, dependable, and have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; Remain calm, and handle stressful situations.

Ability to work well with other staff members and the public.

Preferences Experience as a Paralegal Working in a law office or a court Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese General Information Hours: 8:00 a.m.

– 5:00 p.m.

– Friday Salary: Commensurate with Experience Based on 26 Pay Periods Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
