This position is a District Veterinary Services Medical Leadership role that includes managing and developing a district team of Wellness Center veterinarians and serving as the medical leader within the assigned district by partnering with the district’s District Managers to ensure Wellness Center performance success while also performing medical duties within her/his assigned Wellness Center.

We are looking to hire a District Medical Director (DMD).

This position will cover the states of California and Nevada.

Applicants must be current residents and licensed in California.

Leading the PetIQ district veterinary voice for the veterinary services division through:

· Establish and deliver exceptional veterinary services at assigned Wellness Center

· Partner with Wellness Center Supervisor in delivering quality medical care and grow the center’s business.

· Partner with Recruitment and Field Operations leadership to recruit and hire high-quality veterinarians for open positions at Wellness Centers in the assigned region.

· Maintain Managing Licensee status, as well as all other requirements for veterinary business and/or premise permits as defined by local, state, and federal regulations for all Wellness Centers in the district.

· Manage veterinarian personnel budget for the district as established by the Chief Medical Officer.

· Ensure the district veterinarian team is held accountable to established and communicated roles and responsibilities.

· Develop and deliver onboarding processes and new hire training for all new veterinarian hires in the district.

· Develop, implement, and maintain district veterinarian team communications, team development, and individual development plans.

· Work cross-functionally with district Field Ops leadership and Regulatory teams to ensure district’s Wellness Centers remain in compliance with all regulatory agencies and state veterinary medical board rules and regulations.

· Represent district on the Chief Medical Officer’s Medical Advisory Council by attending and participating in meetings as well as serving on sub-committees for special projects as they arise.

· Compiles reports and data and ensures timely delivery related to designated function.

· Manage planned and ad hoc project requests.

· Adheres to and models PetIQ’s Mission and Guiding Principles

Other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer

Minimum Qualifications

  • DVM, or equivalent, is required
  • 1+ year of practice ownership, practice management, or industry experience preferred
  • 1+ year of multi-direct report or veterinary industry leadership experience preferred

Education Requirements:

  • DVM, or equivalent, is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
