Ready to be a part of something big? Want to add hours to your personal practice? At the Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center in Reno, Nevada we provide at-risk students with the tools they need to be successful in the workplace. 


  1. The emphasis of the Mental Health and Wellness Program must be on prevention, early detection, identification of mental health problems, and helping students overcome barriers to employability.  The program utilizes an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) approach, which includes short-term counseling with an employability focus, referral to center support groups, and crisis intervention.  The CMHC is part of the Health and Wellness team and collaborates closely with the Health and Wellness Director (HWD), Counseling Manager, TEAP specialist, Disability Coordinator, and Center Physician.
  2. Plan, coordinate and conduct the administrative and programmatic activities of the student mental health program.  Implement a mental health program with emphasis on prevention, early detection and identification of mental health problems.
  3. Advise the center director and wellness services staff on all mental health matters including staffing requirements, advisability of student terminations for mental health reasons and the cost of mental health services, including inpatient facility use.
  4. Assist staff in the development and use of mental health principles and techniques which include coping with problems of substance abuse, sexually, aggressive behavior and poor communications.
  5. Ensure that all mental health records are properly maintained and safeguarded in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  6. Assist with providing services to the TEAP program such as program development, consultation, treatment planning and referral, and training.
  7. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  8. Promote the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.


Active, LCSW/MFT/LPC, unrestricted license to practice as an independent practitioner in Nevada and does not require supervision to practice- Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed independent practitioner providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults.  Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.  Valid Nevada driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management  #ZR #Talent
